Last of the First

Welcome to the last week of our first month together. Thank you all for getting your paperwork back promptly! Who knew we had such generous families in our class? Thank you to everybody who has donated to our class, both in time and money.
Last week our Story of the Week was Mackenzie. She shared beautiful artwork as well as four amazing stories about her family jokes, her proudest moments and powerful influences in her life. This week we are looking forward to learning more about Ethan.
Students will be posting the poems they have been working on publishing this last week. Look for those soon....

First Week

Well, as I have told many of you, I am already dreading the end of the school year when I have to say goodbye. This is a wonderful class. But, alas, it is only September and we still have all year to look forward to. Over the past week we have reviewed and discussed fifth-grade expectations and rules. We have also been sharing a lot of personal stories and making connections with one another. In addition to the administrative tasks the first week is burdened with, students have been busy working on grade level assessments. Not exciting for anybody, but necessary nonetheless. Please watch for a newsletter being sent home later this week with more details about curriculum in the classroom. I will attach all newsletters to this blog in addition to sending home a hard copy.

Take a moment to discuss Story of the Week with your family. Dana has graciously volunteered to be our guest for this week. Thank you Dana! Next week, we will begin digging into our class for stories!
